How to Troubleshoot a Hitachi CP-S335 Projector

The Hitachi CP-S335 Projector is a digital multimedia projector. Hitachi, based in Japan, is one of the largest technology companies in the world and its products are well known and trusted. However, as with most high-end optical products, glitches can occur. These problems are fairly easy to troubleshoot, whether it is a focus issue or a lamp that needs replacing. Run through a few basic troubleshooting steps before taking your projector in for a service.

Check that the AC cord is securely plugged into a working outlet and the power switch is set to the "On" position if the projector will not turn on. If the main power source is interrupted by a power outage, turn the projector off and allow it to cool down for at least 20 minutes before turning it back on. Ensure that the lamp cover is secure.

Ensure that the signal cables are correctly connected and the lens cover is off if there are no projected images.

Use the menu function to adjust color, temp and tint if the colors have a faded-out appearance, or the color tone is poor. Adjust the brightness and/or contrast if the pictures appear dark.

Adjust the focus using the focus ring if the pictures appear blurry. You can also adjust the "H-Phase" using the menu system to correct focus.

Replace the projector lamp if the picture is dark or there is no picture at all. Turn the projector off and unplug the AC cord from the electrical outlet. Allow the lamp to cool for at least 45 minutes. Turn the projector over and unhook the claws of the lamp cover using the flat screwdriver. Remove the lamp cover. Loosen the two lamp screws and gently remove the lamp by the handles. Insert the new lamp and tighten the two screws. Replace the lamp cover and then push the center point of the two claws to secure the cover. Turn the projector over and reset the lamp using the "Lamp Time" function in the "Option" menu.
