How to Troubleshoot a Honeywell Whole House Humidifier

Honeywell's TrueSteam whole house humidifier features a control panel to adjust humidity and alert you of maintenance and service reminders. A "Call Service" indicator light alerts you when you should contact your heating contractor for service. A number of issues that arise when using your Honeywell whole house humidifier result from either low or high humidity conditions in your home. Identify low humidity conditions by the peeling wallpaper in your home, static electricity or cracking wood floors and furniture. High humidity conditions are characterized primarily by condensation on your walls and windows. Failure to follow troubleshooting instructions properly may damage the humidifier; always contact your heating contractor if you are uncomfortable making adjustments to your system.

Turn down the frost settings control by one value each morning you see frost or condensation on your windows until no condensation forms. If condensation persists no matter what the setting, you may require more ventilation or should try to eliminate moisture caused from bathing and cooking.

Press the power light to confirm it's on if you experience low humidity. If the humidifier is turned on, turn its humidistat level higher, check that the furnace is on and reset your home's circuit breaker or check for blown fuses.

Keep doors and windows closed if you experience low humidity. Close your fireplace damper and seal all doors and windows. All of these factors may affect the humidity in your home and your humidifier's ability to operate properly.

Press the "Reset" button if the "Call for Service" light starts blinking or remains lit. If it doesn't turn off after resetting the humidifier, turn off the power to the humidifier and turn it back on. If neither solution resolves the issue, contact a heating contractor for service.
