Observe the issues that you are experiencing with the Insignia television to make sure it is something that can be remedied on your own. If the casing of the television needs to be opened and the unit is still under warranty then bring it to the store. You can also call Best Buy to schedule a pick up if the television is too big.

Firmly secure the power plug to the power input area of the Insignia product. Verify the unit is receiving power by checking the power indicator at the front of the television. Make sure the television is in a well-ventilated area and will not overheat as that will cause the television to shut off. Unplug the unit for 24 hours to allow the unit to perform a mini reset.

Access the menu of the Insignia television to change the picture settings. Most televisions will have an overly bright picture when initial removed from the box. Change the color temperature, brightness and any other settings to fit your home. A calibration DVD can be used to properly set the television settings to fit your viewing area.

Unplug and then firmly reinsert the video cables into the proper inputs. Some video cables can wear down over time or the connectors can become damaged and distort the picture quality. Change any cables with visible wear and tear. Check the video input devices to ensure that they are working correctly by trying them in different inputs.

Make sure the audio cables are in the right inputs in relation to the video inputs. Some devices may have their own audio control and will need to be adjusted independent of the television. Use an audio receiver to process that audio and provide a stronger performance than the television speakers.
