- 1
Ensure that the air conditioner is connected to a working power supply and replace or reset fuses or circuit breakers if necessary.
- 2
Ensure that the room thermostat is turned on if the air conditioner does not seem to be cooling properly. Set the thermostat at a temperature lower than the ambient temperature so that the air conditioner turns on. The air conditioner will not function if the thermostat is set above the ambient temperature.
- 3
Turn off the power to the air conditioner, open the front access panel and slide the filter out of the unit. If the filter is marked "disposable," look at the edge of the filter to determine its size and replace it with a new filter, available at most hardware and home repair stores. If the filter is marked as reusable, rinse with water and a few drops of dishwashing liquid until clean. Dry the filter completely and slide it back into the unit in the direction of the arrows on the filter. Close the access panel and restore power to the air conditioner.
- 4
If the air conditioner seems to be running continuously but is not cooling properly, ensure that the air conditioner is not blocked or obstructed by furniture, plants, toys, drapery, bushes or any other potential barriers. Remove any objects from around the air conditioner vents.
- 5
Contact an authorized service technician if the above steps do not resolve the problem.

How to Troubleshoot a Lennox AC
Lennox produces a variety of heating and cooling products for homes and businesses and also manufactures fireplaces, stoves and fireplace inserts. The company is probably best known for its air conditioning units. Available Lennox air conditioning units are Energy Star-rated, have a sound rating between 62 dB and 76 dB and generally should work well with little interference. However, if issues do occur, troubleshooting can identify the problem and possibly offer a solution.
