How to Troubleshoot a Magicolor 2400W

The Konica Minolta Magicolor 2400W printer uses laser print technology to create printouts of documents and pictures on any attached computers. In order to use the Magicolor 2400W with a computer, you must first install the printer's software on the computer using the installation disc that came with the printer. If you see errors on the computer's screen, or notice the printer's output has quality problems or the printer itself does not operate normally, troubleshoot the symptoms to determine the cause of the problem.
  • Media Misfeeds

    • 1

Remove all loose paper from the printer's input and output trays. Pull up on the lever in the front of the printer and lift up the top cover.

    • 2

Pull up on the toner cartridge using the extendable handle on the top of the cartridge. Place the cartridge flat on a piece of scratch paper to catch any toner that spills.

    • 3

Pull out any pieces of media, including small scraps, that have stuck to the printer's rollers and wheels. Be careful to not tear the media as you pull it free from the printer.

    • 4

Replace the toner cartridge and close the printer's top cover. Throw the media away instead of trying to print on it again.

    • 5

Flip through the media you took out of the input tray to make sure that it is not stuck together. Place the media stack in the input tray and adjust the width guide to the edge of the media.

Lift up on the handle at the top of the front of the printer to lift up the top cover to clean the printer's laser lens. Remove the toner cartridge and clean the clear laser lens with a dry microfiber cloth, then replace the cartridge and close the cover.

    • 2

Fold open the printer's input paper tray cover. Remove all of the paper and replace it with fresh paper from an unopened ream.

    • 3

Open the printer's top cover to access the toner cartridge. Slide out the toner cartridge and inspect it for damage. If you see any damage, replace it with a new one.

    • 4

Replace the toner cartridge. Open the software you have been printing from and click "File" at the top of the window, then click "Print" and the "Properties" button.

    • 5

Click the "Paper" tab and select the correct paper type you are using in the "Type Is" pull-down menu. If the printouts continue to turn out light, replace the toner cartridge with a new one.
