How to Troubleshoot a Phone With DSL

When using a landline with your DSL connection you may experience line noise when placing a call. That scratchy static that you hear is often due to a missing filter that is usually connected to your telephone, which removes the noise caused by the high-speed Internet service sharing the same line as your phone. Filters are included with your DSL setup kit, or can be purchased separately at your local electronics store.

Unplug the DSL modem and wait 15 seconds to power-cycle the device. Plug the DSL modem's cable back into the electrical outlet.
