- 1
Reinstall Rescue and Recovery if you receive an error relating to your CSS (Client Security Solution).
- 2
Open the disk defragmenter manually if it fails to open from RnR. It may fail to open from RnR if your computer is running the 64-bit version of Windows 7. You can open the disk defragmenter by opening your "Start" menu, clicking on "All Programs," clicking on "Accessories," clicking on "System Tools," and finally clicking on "Disk Defragmenter."
- 3
Clear disk space if you receive a failure message while using Rescue and Recovery's backup function. The backup function requires at least 300 MB to be free on the hard drive that houses the operating system. (Note that, in any event, Windows requires 10 percent free disk space to operate properly.)
- 4
Use a Lenovo USB memory key if using Rescue and Recovery's backup function on a memory key is taking an inordinately long period of time. Lenovo memory keys are better equipped to be used with R&R's backup process.
- 5
Use a USB memory key with smaller storage space if, when creating rescue media on a memory key with 64 GB storage and then booting from the key, you receive an error entitled "Error loading operating system."
- 6
Disable Bitblocker if, after enabling Bitblocker, you are unable to enter the Rescue and Recovery PDA.
- 7
Free up at least 1 GB of disk space if, when restoring a base backup, you receive the "Insufficient disk space on drive" error message.
- 8
Connect your laptop to outlet power if you receive the "The schedule backup could not be taken because the mobile system is not connected to AC power" error message.

How to Troubleshoot a ThinkPad R51 Recovery
The IBM ThinkPad R51 is a laptop of IBM's ThinkPad line. First introduced in the early 1990s, the ThinkPad line was initially a series of high-quality but affordable laptops. Indeed, the ThinkPad was one of the first brand names to surf the initial wave of laptop releases. The ThinkPad line runs the Windows series of operating systems. While Windows is, in general, an effective operating system, it can suffer fatal flaws. The ThinkPad "Rescue and Recovery" program can help computers recover from hardware or software failure and restoration of deleted or corrupted files. However, things can go wrong in the process.
