How to Undelete Deleted Registries

The System Restore utility is a Windows tool that can be used to undo changes made to a computer's system settings. Since registry keys are a part of a computer's system settings, you can use the System Restore utility to undelete deleted registry keys. System Restore works by periodically taking "snapshots" of a computer's Windows system settings. These snapshots, called "restore points," may then be used to "turn back time," and undo changes made to a computer's system settings

      Log into the computer using an administrator account.

      Open the Start Menu. Type "system restore" in the "Search" box. Press "Enter" on the keyboard to launch the System Restore wizard.

      Click "Next" at the wizard's first prompt titled "Restore system files and settings." The next prompt, titled "Restore your computer to the state it was before the selected event," shows a list of your most recent restore points. To see more restore points, put a check mark in the box next to "Show more restore points."

      Select a restore point which is dated prior to when the registry key(s) was deleted. Click "Scan for affected programs" to review a list of which program(s) will be effected by performing a System Restore, using the selected restore point. After the scan is a complete, a dialog box will open with lists all of the programs that will be impacted by the ensuing changes. These programs will need to be reinstalled after the System Restoration is complete.

      Click "Close" to close the dialog box. Click "Next" to move onto the next prompt. Click "Finished" to undelete deleted the registry keys.

      Log into the computer using an administrator account.

      Click "Start," go to "All Programs" (or "Programs"), point to "Accessories," go to "System Tools," then select "System Restore" to launch the System Restore wizard.

      Select "Restore my computer to an earlier time" at the wizard's first prompt that directs you to "select the task you want to perform." Click "Next."

      Click on a bolded date in the calendar prior to when the registry key(s) was deleted (only bolded dates contain restore points). Click "Next."

      Click "Next" again at the "Confirm Restore Point Selection" prompt.
