How to Unlock a BlackJack II GPS

A global positioning system (GPS) receiver is a common feature among cellular devices on the market these days. It allows users to get directions to where they're going, sometimes even with traffic updates along the way. It even allows location-based checkins with select applications. However, when a carrier locks down the GPS to a specific service, such as with TeleNav on the BlackJack II on AT&T. With a few simple steps, even a locked-down GPS can be used for all of your needs.

  Power on the BlackJack II and open the browser.

  Visit the GPS Unlock link (see Resources) on the phone's browser.

  Confirm the download of the CAB file when prompted.

  If prompted to run, select "Yes," otherwise select the location on the phone to save the file.

  Run the CAB file from the saved location if the phone hasn't already prompted.

  Restart the phone. Upon restarting, the GPS receiver will be unlocked. Use COM4 as the port when requested.
