Click the "Start" button from the Windows XP desktop and then click the "Control Panel" option.

Select the "Automatic Updates" option and the Automatic Updates dialog box appears.

Click the radio button next to the "Automatic (recommended)" field and then click the "Apply" button.

Click the "Windows Update website" link at the bottom of the dialog box and the Windows Update website will appear in the web browser.

Select the "Express" option and then click any update you want to install. Click the "Install Updates" option. The updates will then install onto the computer.

It is important to keep your computer updated by installing any updates that are released. With Windows XP installed on a computer, you can use the Windows XP installation CD to install any new updates. However, you can also use the Automatic Updates built-in component that automatically installs new updates when you log on or the Windows Update website without using the installation CD.
