Click the flag symbol in your system tray (located next to the clock and date) and select "Open Action Center."

Click "Windows Update" at the bottom left corner of the window.

Click "Check for updates" at the top left.

Select "Optional Updates" and choose "Microsoft Media Center." Click "OK."

Click the "Install Updates" button and wait until you receive the message that the update is complete before you open the media center.

How to Update Microsoft Media Center
The Microsoft Media Center comes standard with all Windows 7 computers. Occasionally, Microsoft will release updates to their software through "Windows Update." You can get automatic updates with this feature, but if you know you need an update for the Media Center and it did not download -- or you opted out of automatic updates -- you must manually download it.
