How to Upgrade an XV6800 to Windows 6.1

The XV6800, more commonly known as the HTC Titan, is a Pocket PC smart phone designed specifically for use on Verizon Wireless in the U.S. In August of 2008, the manufacturer HTC released the official Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM upgrade for this device; the upgrade added and enhanced numerous multimedia and business applications. It is recommended that prior to upgrading, users first back up the data and contacts of their XV6800 to their PC using ActiveSync.

  Ensure no other programs are running on your PC. Download the latest ROM update from the HTC website for free. (See Resources.)

  Connect your phone to your PC via USB and wait for the ActiveSync window to automatically pop up before proceeding.

  Open the ROM you downloaded in Step 1 by double-clicking the EXE file to launch the installer. Follow the simple, on-screen commands to complete your installation.

  Reboot your XV6800 and disconnect it from your PC. When the phone powers back on, you will have upgraded the device's OS to Windows Mobile 6.1.
