Drill into the stuck screw with the power drill and a drill bit that is smaller than the diameter of the head of the screw. As a general rule, use a 5/64 inch drill bit for screw numbers 3 through 6 and a 7/64 inch drill bit for screw numbers 6 through 12.
- 2
Remove the drill bit from the power drill and insert the screw extractor bit.
- 3
Switch the power drill to its "Reverse" setting.
- 4
Insert the screw extractor into the hole you made in the screw in Step 1.
- 5
Pull the trigger of the power drill and drill as if you were drilling into the hole you made in the screw. The threads on the screw extractor will grip the walls of the hole and extract the screw.

How to Use Ace Screw Extractors
Any professional contractor or do-it-yourself home repairman knows the frustration of being unable to remove a screw because of a stripped screw head. Screw extractors eliminate this frustration by, essentially, screwing into the screw and allowing you to remove it. To use an Ace brand screw extractor, you must simply drill into the screw, insert the extractor and extract the screw.
