How to Use Laminated Fabric As Shelf Lining in the Kitchen & Pantry

Shelf liners provide your shelves with a protective layer that keeps stains and crumbs from soaking into the wood. Homeowners can easily remove the liners for simple cleaning, or change them to match a new decor. Laminated fabric makes a versatile shelf lining because you can select whatever fabric pattern you want, and cleaning simply involves a wipe-down with a clean cloth.

Remove all items from your kitchen and pantry shelves. Wipe the shelves down with a clean, damp cloth.

Measure the length and width of your pantry shelves with a measuring tape, and cut the laminated fabric into pieces to match.

Cut strips of adhesive-backed Velcro into 1-inch pieces. Remove the adhesive and place a single 1-inch piece every 6 inches along the back of the shelves. Remove the adhesive on the other side of the strip and place a single 1-inch piece every 6 inches on the back of the laminated fabric.

Press the fabric into the shelves so the Velcro pieces match up. The pieces will keep the fabric anchored to the shelving. Repeat with each kitchen and pantry shelf.
