Explore the controls. The power button is on the top right of the device; hold until you see the Palm logo on the screen. Powering off is done by holding the button until a shut-down menu appears. Next to the power button is a switch that toggles the ringer on and off.

Practice gestures. Directly below the touch screen is an area where gestures, or swipes, control phone functions. For example, swiping your finger right to left is the equivalent of pressing a Back key. Tap the center to minimize a card.

Learn the card system. WebOS opens a card for each application, which is what makes it an efficient and true multitasker. When you launch an application, it fills your screen, until you tap the gesture area to minimize. When multiple cards are open, flick between them or swipe up on the screen to close an application.

Make a call a few different ways. Because the Palm Pre Plus offers universal search, type a contact's name right from the home screen to see calling options. Or tap the phone launcher on the home screen, then dial on the touch screen or choose a contact. You can also make a call via the keypad by holding the Option key to access numbers. End a call by tapping the red on-screen End Call button, or minimize the phone dialer and swipe up to close. Depending on the preferences you set, you may also answer or end a call by opening and closing the slider.
- 5
Check out the Pre Plus' applications. Tap the bottom right arrow to open the Launcher, then swipe sideways to see additional screens. Here is where you will find items like the camera, media player, email, app store, GPS, device info, web browser and Wi-Fi controls, as well as any apps you download.

Explore the Pre Plus' menus. Whether you have the Launcher open or are using an application, tapping on the upper left corner will open a menu with additional options, such as adding accounts and setting preferences. From the main screen, tapping the upper right corner will display battery life and other status items.

Learn swipe to delete. While in messages or your list of applications, swipe an item to the right, then press Delete.

How to Use a Palm Pre Plus Phone
The Palm Pre Plus is mobile phone that combines a touch screen with a vertical sliding keyboard. The Pre Plus is available on the Verizon and AT&T networks, although Sprint was first to carry the original Pre, which has less memory and is not Wi-Fi capable. The Palm Pre devices run the WebOS operating system, which is now owned by Hewlett-Packard. WebOS prides itself on being an intuitive operating system and makes the Pre Plus easy to use.
