How to Use a Palm Treo 700W Without Wireless Service

The Palm Treo 700w is a smartphone manufactured by Palm Inc that runs on the Verizon Wireless network in the United States. The smartphone runs Windows Mobile 5 and features a QWERTY keyboard, an SD card reader, Bluetooth connectivity and a touchscreen. A special Palm SD card is available that enables Wi-Fi service. The Treo has an "airplane mode" which turns off the cellular radio, disabling phone service but allowing access to the device's other applications and features. It works only on CDMA radio frequencies, which are most commonly used in the United States and Canada.

Turn the Treo on. Power on the Treo by inserting the battery into the back of the handheld. If the phone does not boot up plug it into the power charger. Make sure the phone fully boots into Windows before moving on. Turning off the phone service before the phone is completely booted may damage information stored on the device.

Press and hold the End Call button to turn off phone service. Pressing and holding the red End Call button will turn off the phone service but will not affect access to the phone's other capabilities, such as contact info and calendar events. If a Wi-Fi enabling SD card is installed, then Wi-Fi access should not be affected by turning off the phone service.
