How to Write a Fax Cover Letter for an Employer

A fax cover letter is used when you are applying for a position by faxing your resume. The purpose of the fax cover letter is to get your resume immediately reviewed by the hiring manager. The cover letter should be one page in length, provide a brief introduction of yourself and why you are interested in the job opportunity. You also need to provide your contact information.

Place your contact information at the top of page so the employer knows how to reach you.

    • 2

Gather the employer's information. The name of the resume recipient, his title, the business name and address all need to be on the cover letter.

    • 3

Place the employer's information beneath your contact information.

In the cover letter, include a short paragraph that states the position and department you are applying for. It should also provide a small amount of information about your work history as it relates to the position. Alert the recipient to the fact that your resume is included with the fax and that you are available for an interview or for further information.
