I Am Unable to View JPG Pictures in MDB Files

Any Microsoft Access version previous to Access 2007 creates database files known as Microsoft Access MDB files. The contents, reports, forms and media files connected to the Microsoft Access database are found in the MDB file. The Access database automatically makes JPG files viewable if they are embedded. The JPG file might not be viewable in some cases. You must do some troubleshooting to resolve this problem.

  Open the Microsoft Access MDB file. Find and open the folder that contains the file and double click it.

  Click the correct object type, found on the left side of the page. Double click the object to open and access it. Without this action, it will remain inaccessible.

  Make sure that the view mode is not on "Datasheet," then click "View" to change the view mode and make the JPG file viewable (see Tips).

  Click the "View" menu and click "Design View" if the JPG appears as a broken link. Right click the picture, click "Properties" and navigate to the "Format" tab.

  Record the file name and path located in the "Picture" box.

  Contact the original author of the database and request a copy of the JPG file to which he or she referred.

  Make sure you place the JPG file in the directory specified by the link, which is the only way it will be viewable. Ensure that the JPG file name is the same as the MDB file name.
