I Cannot Connect to Multiplayer in "Diablo 2"

"Diablo 2" is a dungeon crawling, action-adventure game for the PC. While the single player portion of the game does not require the Internet, you need to go online and connect to Battle.net in order to play "Diablo 2" multiplayer. There are a few things you can try to help troubleshoot the situation if you are having difficulty connecting to battle.net when you want to play with other gamers.

Test your Internet connection and make sure that your network configuration isn't preventing you from accessing battle.net. Sometimes certain router setups or firewalls can block Battle.net. Try disabling any firewalls and then reconnecting to Battle.net.

Download the latest patch for the game. Since "Diablo 2" is periodically updated, you will need to upgrade to the latest version before playing online (see "Resources").

Close any programs or applications that are running in the background. This can help to improve the overall performance of your network.

Attempt to make a connection with each of the four Battle.net Realms. The four Battle.net Realms are "USWest," "USEast," "Europe" and "Asia." If there is only one Realm that you are unable to connect to, you could be dealing with a temporary restriction. Temporary restrictions are sometimes put in place to prevent things like spam, repeated use of unauthorized CD-Keys and account hacking.

Reset the Battle.net server list (see "Resources").
