Military backpacks generally comes in three shapes: the Alice typically has one large compartment and three equal smaller sections. The MOLLE (modular lightweight load-carrying equipment) is shaped like a standard camping pack with two compartments (of different sizes) outside of the main body. The ILBE (improved load-bearing equipment) pack is the latest design and features one extra-large section.
