Industrial Work Truck Safety

It is imperative that safety measures are always taken when driving an industrial work truck. Anything short of total compliance with this rule can cost the lives of the driver as well as others.
  • Sobriety

    • The driver must always be clear-headed and not under the influence of alcohol or any controlled substance. He must be totally aware of his surroundings in order to be in complete control of his work truck to ensure the safety of lives as well as the product that he is hauling.

    Maintenance

    • A service and preventive maintenance schedule must be followed in order to insure that the truck is mechanically sound and safe. Any truck that is found to have mechanical problems must be put out of service to have those issues addressed.

    Training

    • Proper training of truck drivers is very important from a safety standpoint. The propensity for damage because of the size of an industrial work truck is great enough without having an untrained driver behind the wheel. New drivers should go through a thorough apprenticeship to get on the job training with a qualified driver.
