Function

• Pure Med Spa offers treatments including microdermabrasion, chemical peels, skin rejuvenation treatments and laser hair removal. The spa also features Brite Smile teeth whitening and other types of cosmetic dentistry.

Problems

• In 2009, Brite Smile bought Pure Med Spa for $25 million in a bankruptcy sale.

  In April 2010, the U. S. Food and Drug Administration issued a warning letter to Pure Med Spa regarding unsubstantiated or false claims posted by the company on their website.

Results

• Since 2010, all of the locations in the United States closed, many without notice, leaving clients who prepaid for services in an uproar since they did not know how to get money back for services paid for in advance. As of October 2010, Pure Med Spa still operated in Canada. On the company's website, the spa claimed to perform more laser hair removal procedures and Botox and Restylane procedures than any other provider in North America.
