Fill Cleaning Tank
- 1
Move the vacuum's handle into an upright position until it locks into place. Press down on the cleaning tank's handle and pull the tank forward toward you to remove it from the vacuum.
- 2
Unscrew the cap on the tank by turning it in a counterclockwise direction. Turn it over.
- 3
Fill the cap with Hoover detergent up to the fill line and pour it into the cleaning tank. Hoover recommends using only Hoover products as any other product may damage the appliance. You can purchase Hoover detergent from any retailer that sells Hoover products.
- 4
Fill the cleaning tank with hot tap water up to the fill line. According to the user manual, the tank will hold about a gallon of water. Do not fill the tank over the fill line.
- 5
Screw the cap on tightly by turning it in a clockwise direction.
- 6
Push the bottom of the tank into the cleaner until it locks into place. You will hear it snap into place. Make sure the tank's handle is laying down or you won't be able to replace the tank.
Cleaning Carpet
- 1
Move the switch on the bottom of the vacuum to the "On" position to turn on the brushes. Plug in the vacuum, but don't turn it on.
- 2
Release the handle by stepping on the handle release pedal on the bottom of the vacuum.
- 3
Move the "Wash/Rinse" switch to the "Wash" position and then turn the vacuum on.
- 4
Squeeze the trigger on the back of the handle and slowly move the vacuum in a forward and backward motion. Hoover recommends cleaning one small area at a time.
- 5
Let go of the trigger and move the steam vac over the same area you just covered with detergent. You should be able to see the vacuum suck up dirty water on the front of the vacuum. Repeat this process until the entire room has been cleaned.
