Measure the width of the closet opening. If this opening is larger than 36 inches, you will need two bifold doors. Subtract 1/4 inch from the measurement and divide it by two if you're installing two doors. Cut each track to this length with a hacksaw.
- 2
Mark the center of the top of the closet with a pencil. Connect the two pieces of track together with the track connecting plate. Secure these pieces to the closet header with screws.
- 3
Set the pivots into the predrilled holes on the tops of the leading panels of the bifold doors. Gently tap them in with a hammer. Place the guide pivots in the holes on the guiding doors and tap them in as well.
- 4
Set the bottom pivots in the holes on the bottom of the bifold door guides and hammer them in.
- 5
Position the jamb bracket on the floor directly beneath the top pivot bracket. Drill pilot holes in the doorjamb and the floor before securing the jamb bracket with screws.
- 6
Push the snugger guide into the middle of the track. Measure up from the floor 36 inches. Make a mark at this level in the center of the door.
- 7
Drill a hole through the door at the mark you just made. Place the back of the pull knob behind the door and twist on the knob.
- 8
Close the doors and measure 12 inches up from the floor. Make a mark at this height, at the inner edge of each door on the inside. Secure one door aligner on each door at this mark.

Instructions for Installing Bifold Closet Door Hardware
Bifold doors are most commonly used as closet doors. They are attractive and do not take up much space. Bifold doors open along a sliding track. As you pull the door out, it bends in half and slides down the track. Bifold door hardware consists of a pivot bracket on the floor, a track assembly at the top and the door handles. Install bifold closet doors anyplace you need privacy but don't have a lot of space.
