Decorated

There are many ways you can customize a plain, rectangular invitation to fit a dragonfly theme. For a simple invitation, lay the rectangle horizontally and write baby shower details on the right side. On the left side of the card apply decorative dragonfly stamps or stickers.
For a more artistic idea, draw blades of grass and cattails along the bottom of the invitation. Draw or stamp dragonflies around the grass. The invitation details can be placed above this design.
For elegant invitations layer a bold, colorful dragonfly image with a velum cover that contains all the details of the event. Attach the layers with a dragonfly clip or brad.
Shaped
-
Create the invitation in the shape of a dragonfly by tracing a print-out, coloring book image or other shape onto thick, cardstock-style paper. Cut out the image and decorate it as desired. Use glue and glitter to create a sparkling touch.
Leave room at the bottom of the invitation for the baby shower information.
Accessories
-
Unconventional invitations can be made using beads, hair clips and other accessories.
For a beaded dragonfly, use a gold beading wire and beads of a desired color. Loop one end of the wire and create the first body section by adding approximately 10 beads. Create loops from the wire to fashion two sets of wings. One should be larger than the other. Add a few more beads to finish the body section and tie the wire off. Create antennae out of additional wire and add a bead to each end.
Attach the beaded dragonfly to the front of an invitation.Print the information about the shower on a piece of paper and attach a dragonfly hair clip or barrette to it. Plastic dragonfly toys can also be used for this purpose.
