Is There Any Way to Turn Off the Memory Test?

Turning off the memory test that runs when your computer boots up can be done in two ways. The first is to cancel the test, and the second is to turn it off completely. The latter requires you to access the computer's Basic Input/Output System (BIOS). You'll need to press a particular key, which varies from one computer to another, to enter the BIOS. You can then turn off the memory test for good. This procedure should require less than five minutes to complete.

Disable the memory test feature permanently by pressing the requisite key to enter the BIOS. On many computers, this is the "Delete" or "F2" key, but it could some other key on your computer. Look carefully at the splash screen that displays when your system boots up for a message such as "Press [key] to enter BIOS" or "Press [key] for setup."

Navigate the BIOS menu using the arrow keys on your keyboard. Additional key options will be displayed on the BIOS page. Look for an option called "Quick Boot" or "Fast Boot." Set this to "Enabled" by highlighting the option and pressing the "Enter" key.

Navigate to "Save and Exit" (or a similarly named option) once you've finished making changes to the BIOS and press "Enter." The system will ask if you want to save your changes and exit. Highlight "Yes" or press "Y." Your computer will continue booting and the memory test will no longer be performed.
