Kawasaki had been in the business of making motorcycles for 40 years when it started producing the Vulcan line of bikes in 1995. Kawasaki was still releasing new models of this classic motorcycle as of 2010. The 2000 Vulcan was the only Kawaski vehicle to feature a particularly powerful 2,000 cc engine.
Engineering

The 2010 Vulcan 2000 featured a four-stroke, 52 degree V-twin engine with dual cams and eight valves. It had a displacement of 2,053 cc, or 125 cubic inches, and also featured a bore and stroke of 4.06 inches by 4.85 inches and a compression ratio of 9.5-to-1. It had a max torque of 141 feet-pounds at 2,800 rpm.

This 2,000 cc engine works in conjunction with a digital fuel injection system with dual 46 mm Keihin throttle bodies. Other related systems include a liquid cooler with cooling fins, a transistor controlled breakerless ignition with digital advance, and a five-speed, positive neutral finder transmission.
Performance

Motorcycle reviewing website Top Speed mentions the engine as one of the most appealing aspects of the 2010 Kawasaki Vulcan 2000. Though the motorcycle weighs 884.2 lbs. with fuel, the bike was quick on the acceleration. Top Speed also reports a reasonable fuel efficiency and a smooth ride despite the engine's power.
