The Kodak EasyShare Z1012 IS digital camera, first released in January 2008 is a 10.1 megapixel camera that CNET calls an "enthusiast's camera." In addition to standard features, the camera comes with high-resolution video capture and allows users to exercise control over the camera's exposure settings. Its relatively low price, compact size and super-zoom ability should satisfy most of an amateur photographer's needs.

The EasyShare has 10.1 megapixels with a maximum output image size of 3572 x 2748 pixels. It carries a 33-395 mm lens, equivalent to a 35 mm camera with aperture settings ranging from f/2.8 to f/4.8. The camera comes with a 12x optical zoom and a 5x digital zoom, creating a combined maximum zoom of 60x. It has image stabilization for reducing blur from camera shake. The camera has an electronic viewfinder and a 2.5 inch LCD screen for previewing your shots.

The EasyShare uses a 1/2.33 CCD sensor for image capture. It comes with 32MB of internal memory and accepts SD and MMC cards for additional storage of images. Users can choose the following capture ratios for their photos: 4:3, 3:2 or 16:9, which is the widescreen format. Shutter speed ranges from 1/30 to 1/3200. The camera has auto-focus but also allows users to select manual mode to control shutter speed and aperture settings.

The EasyShare comes with different preset capture modes such as face-detection, scene analysis, shooting in low-light conditions, a sport preset for capturing action shots and panorama for stitching together two or three pictures to create one panoramic scene. It also comes with video capture.
