Liftmaster is a popular manufacturer of garage door equipment. The Liftmaster 365Lm is a receiver and remote control that can be installed on any garage door opener to allow you to open and close your door from the comfort of your vehicle. By connecting the receiver unit to the garage door opener and following the programming instructions for the remote control, you will be able to use your garage door opener after just a few minutes of preparation.

  Unplug your garage door opener. Connect the two wire strands coming from the Liftmaster receiver to the garage door unit by unscrewing the connector, placing the wire in the terminal and returning the screw to its original position. The two terminals will be labeled "1" and "2" or "common" and "command," depending on the model of your garage door opener. It does not matter which terminal to which you connect each wire. Plug the receiver into an open outlet and plug in the garage door opener again.

  Open up the front panel of the the receiver with a screwdriver. Remove the cover and press the "Smart" button located under the terminals in the receiver. Hold down the button until the indicator light on the receiver comes on and stays on. You now have 30 seconds to program the remote.

  Press and hold down the button on the remote for your Liftmaster. The remote will search through codes until it finds one that works. When this happens, the garage door will begin to open or close. Release the button immediately. Replace the cover on the receiver unit and place it where it will permanently rest on top of the garage door opener.
