Matchmaking

Alma Rubenstein, known for her work on TV's "The Bachelor," has brought her matchmaking skills to Portland. As director of PDX Speed Dating, she conducts 30-minute screening interviews and provides feedback and dating tips after each one. Speed-dating events are held at local venues. In addition, Alma teaches Flirting 101 and 202 classes, and offers personal coaching.
On the Slopes

Speed dating meets skiing as Mt. Hood Meadows presents Chairway 2 Heaven on Valentine's Day. Women and men, divided into separate singles lines, are randomly paired up on the Blue chairlift. After a nine-minute ride to the top, the couple can decide whether they want to take some runs together or split up for additional speed dates. The Meadows Mingle, near the bottom of the lift, puts skiers in the right mood with wine and appetizers, a fire pit and relaxing music.
Joining a Club
-
Meet Up, an online network of local community groups, offers singles an alternative to larger dating companies. Listings on the website introduce people to clubs such as Portland Single Parent Happy Hour Group and Portland Speed Dating for Singles. In addition to speed dating events, members have hiked at Hagg Lake, checked out the Oregon Brewers Festival, and enjoyed other casual activities together.
