The Location of the Transmission Fluid Dipstick on a 1992 Ford F-450

The Ford F-450 is built to haul heavy loads. Although this is great for the truck and hauling enthusiast, it is tough on the engine. It is advisable to check your engine fluids on a regular basis and to change the transmission fluid and filter every 12,000 to 15,000 miles. This will help to keep your engine running properly. Before you can check and change the transmission fluid, you need to know where the transmission fluid dipstick is in the engine compartment.

Stand in front of the engine. Use a stepping stool or stand on the bumper if you need to. As you face the engine, look to the back left side. The dipstick is back and down a bit from the center of the engine.

Look for a silver metal loop at the end of the transmission fluid dipstick. It likely will not be labeled. You will pull the dipstick straight out of the dipstick tube when you check the level of the fluid.
