Mazda 626 Performance

The Mazda 626 was a four-door sedan discontinued in 2002 and replaced by the Mazda 6. The original 626 was introduced in 1979 with a 2.0 liter engine. The final base version of the 626 also had a 2.0 liter engine, albeit one which was more powerful than the original car's 80 horsepower.
  • 2002 LX Base

    • The base trim of the 2002 626 produces 125 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 127 ft.-lbs. of torque at 3,000 rpm. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mileage estimates for this car are 23 miles per gallon in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.

    2002 LX and ES with V6 engines

    • The LX had the option of a 2.5-liter V6 engine. This V6 was standard on the ES model and produced 165 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 161 ft.-lbs. of torque at 5,000 rpm. The EPA mileage estimates for these cars are 21 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.

    • The final generation 2002 626 could get from zero to 60 miles per hour in 7.7 seconds.
