According to the Minnesota State Council on Disability, the Minnesotans With Disabilities Act would have increased the asset limits for receiving state medical care. Additionally, the Act included a provision to allow disabled Minnesota residents on state medical care to receive dental insurance.

The Minnesotans With Disabilities Act was voted down in a 2005 state legislative session. The vote came after a state government shutdown which temporarily suspended disability services.
Effects

Although the Act itself was shot down, the Minnesota state legislature did enact some of its reforms. According to the Minnesota State Council on Disability, many of the bill's provisions later became part of the Omnibus Health and Human Services Act, which passed in July, 2005.
