Tissue paper is one way to decorate with Mod Podge. tissue paper image by Christopher Hall from Fotolia.com
Mod Podge is a type of craft glue that can be used to make decoupage projects. It's simple to use, even for children, and allows you to enliven tables, boxes or even sneakers. If you want to make a special gift for someone or something you own is begging for decoration, grab Mod Podge and give it new life.
Collage Box
-
Create a one-of-a-kind decoupage box with Mod Podge and a plain box. Cut out pictures from old magazines using a theme or select random images you like. If you're using the box for toys, cut out pictures of kids toys. If the box is for makeup, use photos of makeup items from the magazines. You should have enough pictures to cover the box so no space is showing. Brush on the Mod Podge to the surface where you want to apply the images and stick them on to the box. Put another layer of Mod Podge over the images, making sure there aren't air bubbles. Allow it to dry.
Photo Necklace
-
Mod Podge a necklace that will make a memorable present for a mother or grandmother. Use large wooden beads, a cord and some photos you've uploaded to your computer. Print the photos, changing the print settings to make sure the images will fit on the beads. Regular printer paper is needed for this, not special photo paper. Brush the Mod Podge onto the part of the bead where the photo will be. Use one photo per bead. Place the photo on to the Mod Podge-coated surface and brush more Mod Podge over the photo. Once you have repeated the process with all the photos and beads, allow the beads to dry before stringing them on to a necklace cord.
Pencils
-
Kids can make decoupage pencils and show them off at school. Use 1-inch squares of paper. Paint on the Mod Podge, covering the pencil except for the eraser. Stick the squares of paper on to the Mod Podge. Make sure no portion of the pencil can be seen. To make it easy for your decoupaged pencils to dry, stick them into craft foam with the pencil point down.
