Natural Solutions for Cleaning Floors

According to information from the Center for Disease Control, exposure to cleaning products can aggravate symptoms of asthma and other respiratory issues. To avoid aggravating any respiratory conditions, some consumers are turning to organic, natural cleaning solutions.
  • Carpet Spot Cleaning

    • Some natural and organic options for removal of carpet spots and stains are white vinegar, cornstarch, salt and borax. These products can be either mixed with water to create a spray for carpet stains or blended into a paste designed to tackle heavier, set-in stains.

    Floor Cleaners and Polish

    • Cleaners can be mixed at home using natural products for vinyl, linoleum, wood, painted wood, brick and stone tile flooring. The most common natural cleaner used on all types of flooring is distilled white vinegar mixed with water.

    Considerations

    • Many major retailers are now carrying brands of eco-friendly and non-toxic natural alternatives to traditional cleaning products. Consumers who may not want to mix their own products at home can take advantage of purchasing products off the shelf at a major retailer nearby or by looking for natural cleaning products online.
