Network Certification Training

Network certification training concerns study in several areas of the infrastructure, maintenance and security of information technology systems. Several courses cover manufacturer-specific networking systems, such as those offered from Microsoft and Cisco Systems, as well as certifications in network administration and engineering.

Scope

• Several certifications in computer networking exist for the field of IT, such as the Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure Configuration and the Windows Server 2008 Applications Configuration. Other programs offer certification in CompTIA networking, Voice Over WLAN, and security analysis and licensed penetration testing.

Duration

• Program length depends on the certification provider and the comprehensiveness of the program. For instance, the CompTIA Network Certification program from E Learning Center lasts 31 hours, whereas the Designing Cisco Network Service Architectures course from Global Net lasts five days.

Cost

• Similar to program length, training costs vary between certifications and their providers. As of November 2010, the CompTIA + 2009 course from E Learning Center costs $69, which includes one-year access to the 31-hour program. Another training provider, Global Net (which offers a Certified Security Analyst Program), provided a tuition quote of $2,995 including hotel stay at their Houston, Texas training site in November 2010.
