Paratransit Eligibility

Paratransit is a shared-ride, door-to-door bus service, that operates throughout the Sacramento area for disabled and elderly people in the area. Visitors to the area who register with Sacramento Regional Transit are also eligible for the service.
  • Eligibility

    • Sacramento Regional Transit reports its accessible services are available to customers who are unable to board or alight from buses and trains independently. Paratransit is operated under the Americans with Disabilities Act as a service for people who are unable to use light rail stations or buses.

    Registration

    • Paratransit explains that in order to use the services offered, customers must be assessed for eligibility by Sacramento Regional Transit. This eligibility is assessed through the completion of an application form and an interview with Regional Transit officials.

    Service

    • The Paratransit service was founded in 1978 as a private, not-for-profit organization specifically designed to transport elderly and disabled people without access to transport services. According to Paratransit, customers reserve a seat and are given a time when the bus should arrive.
