PC to TV Problems

Various factors could cause problems when trying to send a computer's display output to a television. The image may appear stretched or fail to fill the whole screen.
  • Factors

    • Computer display output is produced at a specific resolution, configured as a number of horizontal and vertical pixels such as 1024x768. It also is possible to configure a refresh rate, which determines how often the display image is updated. Find out the appropriate settings for the television by checking its documentation, to ensure your PC settings are appropriately configured.

    Configuration

    • To correct the PCs settings, access the display settings in the Control Panel on Microsoft Windows machines or within System Preferences on an Apple Macintosh. Match the output settings to those required by the television.

    Connections

    • A range of cables is available to connect computers to televisions. In some cases, particularly with Apple computers, additional adaptors are required to make the connection. Connector cable types include HDMI, S-Video and DVI to video adapter.
