Point Pleasant beach is a shore resort with an aquarium and amusements on the boardwalk along the beach. Seaside Heights features a casino pier, amusements and an ocean fishing pier. The Strand Theater in Lakewood has 1,000 seats and hosts theater, dance, ballet and music events. Other attractions include discount shopping, Raceway Park, Monmouth Battlefield State Park with the historical Craig House and reenactments, Freehold Raceway and the Cream Ridge Winery open year round.

Hoboken, in northern New Jersey, is situated on the Hudson River just across from Manhattan. For retirees who enjoy city living with easy access to the amenities of New York City, Hoboken is ideal. Known as the mile square city and the birthplace of Frank Sinatra, Hoboken is still transitioning into a trendy community with outdoor cafes, shopping and historical buildings along Washington Street and surrounding streets. The city offers a promenade with bench seating along the river offering panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline. Residents can enjoy neighborhood parks and shopping at nearby Edgewater. Hospitals and a variety of transportation options, including an eight-minute ferry ride into Manhattan, are available.
