- 1
Power off your laptop computer and remove the power cord. Unplug the battery pack from the bottom of the unit.
- 2
Locate all screws on the plastic frame, or bezel, surrounding the LCD screen of the computer. These screws may be covered with pads. If this is the case use your fingers or the tip of your screwdriver to remove the pads and expose the heads of the screws.
- 3
Use your screwdriver to remove the screws and set them aside.
- 4
Pry the bezel off of the screen by the sides and corners. Set the bezel aside. The rectangular inverter board will now be visible mounted below, or to the side of, the screen.
- 5
Unplug the cables at either end of the board and remove the screw holding the inverter in place. Remove the old inverter and set it aside.
- 6
Fit a new inverter board in the old one's place and plug the cables into the ports at either end of the board. Replace the screen bezel, screws and pads.

Power Inverter DIY
The inverter board on your laptop computer transfers power from the computer to the backlight, which powers the screen. A standard laptop inverter board is mounted directly below, or to the side of, the LCD screen. Replacing a broken inverter is a much quicker process than you may have thought.
