You can use metal and clay in combination with each other to create many different craft projects. For example, you can create key chains, ornaments or pendants out of clay and metal, which you can give to friends or family members as a thoughtful handmade gift.
Key Chain
-
Shape a piece of polymer clay into a whimsical or beautiful shape. Press the polymer clay shape into the end of a sterling silver key chain tip. Bake the key chain on a cookie sheet in a 200 degree F oven for 10 minutes.
Ornaments
-
Roll a piece of polymer clay into a flat sheet, and use a cookie cutter to cut out a Christmas shape. Smooth the edges of the shape with your fingers. Use a pencil eraser to poke out a hole in the top of the ornament. Bake the ornament on a cookie sheet in a 200 degree F oven for 10 minutes, then cool. Insert a sterling silver wire into the hole, and twist it around itself to create a loop. Hang the ornament up by the loop.
Pendant
-
Sculpt a piece of polymer clay into the desired shape, then insert a piece of sterling silver wire into it. Wrap the wire around the clay in a creative, artistic way. Leave a piece of the wire up so that you can string a necklace chain through it. Bake the pendant on a cookie sheet in a 200 degree F oven for 10 minutes, then allow it to cool.
