Simple Code of Conduct

A code of conduct contains a number of rules describing the behavior expected by members of a group. Simple codes of conduct are often issued to children and young adults as part of their training or education.
  • Types

    • Schools, sports clubs and youth groups release simple codes of conduct to inform their students or members about expected behavior. In the business world, codes of conduct are usually incorporated in the code of ethics and require extensive clauses. However, small businesses or communities who do not have a code of ethics still might want to establish a simple code of conduct to give their employees some guidelines on attitudes and basic ethical standards.

    Features

    • Universally known simple codes of conduct can be found in the brownie or pathfinder laws where members of a group pledge to behave in certain ways to comply with the standards of their organization. Members of communities and employees in small businesses with a simple code of conduct are asked to comply with principles such as punctuality, considerations towards others, obeying the law and treating the community's property with respect.

    Considerations

    • Simple codes of conduct should be written in concise language and be to the point. They are not legally binding documents and disrespecting a rule will not result in judicial prosecution.
