The Simplest Ways to Interface on an LCD

    • Liquid crystal display (LCD) monitors are the wave of the future for computer displays, so knowing the proper methods to interface these devices to your system computer is essential. There are three main methods of basic interface between your computer and your LCD monitor. The method you will have to use varies depending on your monitor type and computer's graphics card.

    VGA

    • Some older computers will have to interface with an LCD monitor via VGA (video graphics array). This is only possible with a DVI (digital video interface) cable and a VGA-to-DVI connector, as modern LCD monitors typically do not have a VGA port.

    DVI

    • DVI is the standard connection method. Connect this by merely screwing a DVI cable into the back of your computer and screwing the other end into the like DVI port on the computer.

    HDMI

    • Newer monitors and computers might also provide for a HDMI (high definition multimedia interface). This is merely a plug-and-play interface. You will not have to bother with screwing down or securing any cabling in this instance.
