Your birthday is a time to celebrate, so why not do it for a whole weekend? Go somewhere that is a bit far from where you live, but not too far since you do not want to spend too much time traveling. Take advantage of what is near you, like the beach, lakes and mountains when planning your birthday celebration.
Rent a Condo

Rent a condo or a home somewhere near where you live that is in a different atmosphere. For example, if you live near a beach, get a small cottage on the beach where you can wake up and enjoy the sea breeze. Or if you are near the mountains, get a cabin there. If your birthday is in winter, stay at a resort and get ski passes for the weekend.
Spa Weekend

Plan to go to a spa for the weekend and pamper yourself. Some places have multi-day packages you can take advantage of. Have services done like massages, facials, manicures and pedicures, and any other special services that are offered.
Cruise

If you live within a few hours of a port where cruises depart, book a two- to three-day cruise. Depending on where you live, you can go down to Mexico, the Caribbean, or up north to Canada and Alaska. Make sure you have three days to do this, as most weekends are only two days, except for holidays.
Family

Plan a fun weekend with the family. If you have not seen your family in awhile and are close with them, plan to get everyone together at one person's house, and spend time hanging out with each other. This is harder to organize as you all get older, which also makes it more special. Plan it way in advance if your family is difficult to get together at once.
Houseboat

If you live near a lake or river, rent a houseboat and celebrate with your friends and family out on the water for a few days. Rent some jet skis and relax and play for the weekend. Plan this in advance so that you know how many houseboats you will need to reserve if a lot of you are going.
