The Canon Pixma MX308 is a color all-in-one printer capable of functioning as a scanner, printer or fax machine. It prints 22 pages per minute in black and white mode and 17 color pages per minute. It has a maximum resolution of 4,800 by 1,200 dots per inch, and can connect to a computer by either USB or PictBridge connections.

The Pixma MX308 can be used on either a Windows PC or a Mac, provided the computer meets the minimum system requirements. The printer was designed to work with PCs running Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista and newer versions of the Windows operating system that feature legacy support for older operating systems. On Apple computers, Mac OS X 10.2.8 or newer is required to operate the Pixma MX308.

For PCs running Windows operating systems, the Pixma MX308 will need a Pentium II or comparable processor with a minimum clock speed of 300 MHz. The Pixma's MX308's software requires 800 MB of hard drive space and must be installed from a CD-ROM drive. This software requires a minimum 128 MB of RAM. Internet Explorer 6.0 or newer is required for online support and registration, and an XGA video display capable of 1024 by 768 dots per inch is also required.

To use the Pixma MX308 with an Apple computer, you will need an Intel-based PowerPC G3 or newer workstation. A minimum of 256 MB of RAM is required, and at least 460 MB of hard drive space to store the bundled software that comes with the printer. The Safari Web browser will allow access to online support and product registration, and an XGA graphics display with a minimum 1024 by 768 dots per inch resolution will also be necessary.
