- 1
Use a tape measure to determine how large the storage box will be. Write down the height, width and depth of the box.
- 2
Create four squares or rectangles on the plywood sheets using the pencil and measuring tape. In the case of a rectangular box, the front and back pieces should be identical, as should the two side pieces. Use the jigsaw to cut all four pieces out, and sandpaper away any splinters or cracks.
- 3
Place all four pieces on their sides and line them up to create a rectangle. The front and back piece should overlap the ends of the side pieces. Attach the pieces to create the box frame using the drill and screws. Use the level to ensure the frame is even.
- 4
Measure the length and width of the frame. Draw two identical rectangles on the plywood sheets that will be the lid and the bottom of the storage box. Cut the pieces out and sandpaper away splinters.
- 5
Attach the bottom piece to the frame using the drill and screws. When done, flip the box right-side-up.
- 6
Place the lid piece down on a flat surface and attach the hinges on the long side using a screwdriver and screws. Place the lid on top of the box and attach the hinges, with one hinge section on the inside of the lid and the other attached to the inside of the box. Use a level to ensure the lid is evenly attached.
