Traditional Gifts for a 1st Year Anniversary

  • For Her

    • Place a bouquet of paper flowers by her bedside so it is the first item she sees in the morning, with a card beside it containing a piece of jewelry. Or, fill a gift box with tickets for a romantic dinner cruise along the bay or maybe a comedy mystery dinner. Leave heart-shaped notes throughout the home listing the reasons you love her, with a very special present of reservations. Perhaps she would like a gift certificate for horseback riding, flying or photography lessons.

    For Him

    • A surprise visit to his office with an origami heart to show your love or some boudoir photographs start his morning out right. Create your own special board game for him with your get-out-of-the-doghouse-free cards or some special cards where he picks the gift. Make a calendar containing a photo of the two of you for each month, including comments and the dates he needs to remember. Consider season passes to his favorite sports team or a magazine subscription aligned with his interests.

    For Both

    • Buy flight tickets and make reservations for a special getaway you will enjoy. If you would like to lie in the sun drinking margaritas, consider Cancun, Mexico. Perhaps you'd prefer to cuddle before a roaring fire after a day on the slopes in Switzerland. Or, maybe you seek romance in Venice, Italy, with its numerous canals and tiny bridges. Give each other the gift of dance lessons or season tickets to the theater or opera for guaranteed date nights.
