Exit Trend Micro. Open a Web browser and verify that you can access the Internet. If you cannot access the Internet, you are having an Internet problem, not a problem with Trend Micro. Restart your modem, unplug your router and reset your network. If that doesn't work, contact your Internet Service Provider to ask about outages in your area and to find out what your next steps might be for troubleshooting your Internet connection.
Once you establish a connection to the Internet, open Trend Micro again and verify that it is working. If Trend Micro still does not work even when you can connect to the Internet, continue to the next step.

Exit the Trend Micro program and restart the program. You may have a momentary glitch with your anti-spyware program and restarting it may solve the problem. If Trend Micro still does not work, exit the program and continue on to the next step.

Restart your computer. Once the computer restarts, open Trend Micro and verify that it is working. If Trend Micro still doesn't work, continue to the next step.

Click "Start," select "Control Panel" and click on "Uninstall a program." Click on your Trend Micro program from the list of installed programs and click "Uninstall."

Navigate to the Trend Micro website and download the most recent version of Trend Micro. Follow prompts to install the program to your computer. Running a more recent version of Trend Micro should fix any issues you have with an older version.
