Ulead Photoimpact Requirement

Ulead, a software company now owned by Corel, manufactured a photo editing program known as PhotoImpact for more than ten years. The features allowed users to touch up photos by improving light, color and curves, and cropping the image.
  • Requirements

    • Ulead's PhotoImpact software requires 512 MB of memory for use with Windows XP or 1 GB RAM (1024 MB) for use with Windows Vista. Furthermore, the program requires at least 750 MB of open hard drive space for installation files, program data and other content included with the software. Users who install optional content require another 350 MB, for a total of 1.1 GB of space. The installation disc requires a drive that can read CDs, such as a CD-ROM or combination CD/DVD-ROM.

    Benefits

    • Because PhotoImpact by Ulead is compatible with multiple versions of Windows, more consumers can choose this software as a photo editing solution. Additionally, Windows XP users only require 512 MB of random access memory and it is common for computers to have at least this amount of memory installed. Users who are unsure how well this program fits their needs can download the free trial before purchasing the full version.

    Considerations

    • The Ulead website does not explain whether PhotoImpact is compatible with Windows 7 or how much random access memory is required if this is the case. Additionally, the official requirements page does not indicate which version of PhotoImpact has these specific requirements. Lastly, Corel now owns Ulead and the product is now called PaintShop Photo. The most recent version of this program may have alternative requirements.
