Eye Protection
-
Protect your eyes and face with a UV-certified, polycarbonate face shield. Do not look directly at UV light, if possible.
Skin Protection
-
Wear a buttoned lab coat, long pants, long sleeves, closed-toe shoes and disposable nitrile gloves. Make sure there is no exposed skin between your sleeves and gloves, since any exposed skin will likely burn.
Medications
-
Some medications increase photosensitivity, which also increases a person's susceptibility to UV radiation. If people working with UV radiation are on medication, make sure the medication does not increase photosensitivity.
Labels
-
All UV-emitting devices or areas should be clearly labeled with warning signs. Do not allow untrained personnel into areas with UV devices.
